The FAIRYTALE tag

I have not been feeling well today due to my migraine. I feel like my eyes want to pop out and my head would crack and explode into pieces. So I guess, I will just do a simple blog tag... and if you like it feel free to tag yourself.

THE QUESTIONS:

1. What was your first introduction to fairytales?


    My aunt has always read to me fairytales and yes I was forced to read fluently at a very young age. So to practice, she would let me read snow white until I say the words correctly.

2. Do you have a favorite fairytale/favorite fairytale character? Or several?


  
   My favorite would definitely be Beauty and the Beast just because the story is so touching that until now I cry when I see the part of the movie where beast is dying. For the character, I choose Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. She is more like me... we love to sleep!

3. Do you immediately associate fairytales with Disney, and their Disney incarnations? Do you think this association is a good/bad thing? 

I would not usually associate it immediately. I prefer the Grimm´s tales actually. But for how the characters look, in a way I see them as how they appear in Disney movies. I think it is okay to associate it to Disney fairy tales but it would also be nice to read Grimm´s version.




4. Do you prefer "lighter" or "darker" fairytale renditions?

   I love the darker version. I think it has more of an impact rather than just the common happily ever after connotation to a fairy tale.



5. Do you read fairytale adaptations? If so, name some favorites.

    Yes, I actually own a fairy tale from Grimm´s which I just love reading as a child. My favorite would definitely be The Little Mermaid because the ending is not a typical one wherein they live happily ever after.

6. In terms of fairytales on film, what are some of your favorite?

   I love Rapunzel! The one from Disney. I think it is adapted in a very fun way.



7. What novels and films with a fairytale feel do you enjoy? These are not directly canon tales eg. a tale from the Grimms, from Perrualt, from Anderson, etc. 

   Frozen! The main lesson is sisters before misters.



8. What do you think accounts for the enduring appeal of fairytales? 

    I think every person still is aiming for a happily ever after ending in their own lives and I guess fairytale gives them that glimpse of hope.

9. Was/is there a character or tale that impacted you the most? 

    Puss from Puss in boots. I think that he is just clever. It more like thinking outside the box and breaking the limits to achieve your goals.



10. If you could be any fairytale character, who would it be and why?

     Princess Jasmine from Aladdin because I want to experience having tiger as my pet and having to ride in a magic carpet.

11. If you could rewrite or re-envision a fairytale, what would it be and what would you do/change?

     I would change the Sleeping beauty. I want Aurora to be like sleepwalking rather just staying plainly in bed. And the Maleficent should have a magic mirror like the evil queen in snow white.



12. Your fairytale weapon of choice: poison apple, the power of a name, an evil bargain, or praying on a specific human weakness/emotion?


     I want the power of maleficent but I want to inject poison thru computers... haha I mean if bad people would touch their ipad and they are detected to be evil then the IPAD would release poison so they will sleep. Haha..

Review: OPI Liquid Sand Beach Sandies - Brazil Collection

Iedereen is enthousiast over de Catrice Crushed Crystals nagellakken en toen, zat ik te denken of ik deze ook zou willen kopen of niet. Toen ik naar de winkel ging, was ik niet zo enthousiast om deze te kopen. Ten slotte, hebben de kleine schoonheden mijn aandacht getrokken. YES! OPI Liquid Sand Beach Sandies zien er zo prachtig uit! Dat Ik besloten heb, vergeet the Catrice en pak de OPI beach sandies!

Sindsdien ben ik een grote fan van OPI, vooral van hun zand collectie . Als onderdeel van de collectie Brazilië (een die ik al geswatchd heb), heeft OPI een 4-delige collectie van Liquid Sand minis, genaamd Beach Sandies vrijgegeven. Ze zijn 4 heldere glinsterende kleuren, wanneer ze gedroogd zijn, en zien ze er uit als een fijne textuur Liquid Sand afwerking. Het leuke van Beach Sandies is echter dat ze veel glinstering hebben die de structuur schittering doet ploffen op je nagels.

Er zijn vier prachtige kleuren namelijk: Samba-dy loves purple, I’m Brazil Nuts Over You, What’s a Little Rain Forest?, You´re so Flippy Floppy

Samba-dy loves purple- is meer rose achtig dan paars. Volgens mij, het is het fuschia…haha

I’m Brazil Nuts Over You – OPI heeft gezegt dat het rood is maar het is meer een corale kleur als je deze op je nagel doet.

What’s a Little Rain Forest?- is een hele mooie blauwe nagellak. Het herinnert me aan de hemel in de zomer want deze kleur is een prachtige cerulean blauw.

You´re so Flippy Floppy – Zonder twijfel ,dit is mijn favoriet want het is geel! Geel is mijn favoriete kleur en dat is zo prachtig. Het is een sterke gele kleur en alleen enkel laags kan het al worden toepast, de lak is erg ondoorzichtig dus goed dekkend.

Het is jammer dat deze alleen verkrijgbaar zijn in kleine flesjes en wat ik ook jammer vind is dat mini´s snel op gaan. Ik heb de Samba-dy loves purple op mijn nagels gedaan en voor iemand die niet een erg grote fan van paars is ben ik overtuigd om deze kleur te gebruiken op mijn nagels, het is erg mooi. 

Je moet 2-3 lagen aan brengen om de beste resultaten te bereiken. Maar voor de flippy floppy, kun je dit doen in 1 keer en dan is het al goed gedekt. De formule voor flippy floppy is dikker dan de rest. En voor alles duurt het ongeveer 10 minuten om ze te laten drogen .

Ik denk dat OPI een geweldige taak gedaan heeft de flair van Brazilië vast te leggen in deze sprankelende, zomerse Liquid Sand tinten.

Review: Miss Sporty Perfect Colour Lipsticks

I have never been a lipstick type of person. But I have read a blog of Sarah from ultimatefashionlover.nl and I was encouraged to give Miss Sporty Perfect Colour Lipsticks a try.

Each lipstick costs 1.99 euro and you can buy it in Etos, Dirx and Kruidvat.

I tried swatches on my skin to see if the colors would fit me. Personally, I think the colors are a bit not strong enough. I know for a fact that lipstick colors differ on every person because of the chemical reaction on every person´s skin.

I love wearing lipsticks that would appear that I am not wearing one but gives that hint of color or shimmer. Among the three, this would be my favorite. I think it is just lovely and shimmery. It makes my lips naturally beautiful. I also believe that for a person with a bit of dark skin like me, Let´s Dream would be a perfect everyday lipstick you can wear.

I have read in some fashion blogs recently that orange is the new lipstick color trend for spring. (Sorry it appears more pink in this picture but in real life it is looking like a nice orange).

I wanted to try an orange lipstick and so far this one captured my attention. It has that lovely orange hue to it. Does it make the cut for me? I am not sure though. I wanted it to be more orange and more intense but when I applied it on my lips, I have to apply thick layer for the color to show thru. I applied five times before I achieve the intensity of color that I have below.

Lastly, this winter I have in love with plums and deep reds and so I decided to give My Luv a try.

I would definitely use this on a daily basis. I like it despite the fact that it is quite not so deep or too plum for my liking.  Still, the color is just wonderful and I think that for persons with lighter skin, this would compliment really good.

Packaging - 7 (It appears expensive looking but I had problems removing the seal off and had to use knife to open it and thus it scratches the top cover)

Color Intensity - 7 (As I mentioned above, every lipstick reacts differently on each lips due to chemical reaction but for me the colors are not intense as I hope it would appear)

Price - 10 (It is affordable!)

Overall - 8

Would I recommend it? Definitely...Miss Sporty Perfect Colour Lipsticks come in different shades, so choose the one that you like most:)

1. Hoelang blog je al en waarom?

Ik blog sinds september 2010, maar ik ben gestopt want ik had het te druk! Ik ben vorige maand een nieuwe blog begonnen. Mijn youtube kanaal bestaat ook al 2 weken! Ik vind het vooral heel leuk om over een heleboel en nuttige informatie te bloggen maar ik weet niet precies of jullie dat leuk vinden.

2. Wat is je grootste fashion-no-no?

Ik denk een neon shirt want ik ben beetje donker en ik denk dat neon me niet zo goed past

3. Wat staat er boven aan je wishlist op dit moment?

Meer Jeffrey Campbell schoenen. Ik hou van de stijlen van de Litas en andere jeffrey campbell schoenen.

4. Als je alleen kon kiezen tussen 3 make-up producten die je moet gebruiken voor de rest van je leven, welke producten zouden dat zijn?

Hmm ik zit na te denken… Fit me poeder van maybelline want de kleur past me heel goed, burts bees lip balm ( hydrateren mijn lippen heel goed) en victoria secret christian siriano Gilded Fierce want die zijn heel gepigmenteerd en ik kan ze gebruiken als oogschaduw of meestal als oogpotlood.

5. Wie is je grootste icoon (mode/beauty gericht), en waarom?

Tyra Banks. Ik ben een grote fan van america´s next top model. Zij is gewoon mooi en met haar smize…dat vind ik super!

6. Wat is jouw must-have haarverzorgingsproduct?

Ik heb een probleem met mijn hoofdhuid en ik mag alleen baby shampoo of 100% naturel shampoo gebruiken. Ik gebruik bijna niets speciaals alleen shampoo en conditioner.

7. Wat is je grootste droom?

Om over de hele wereld te reizen samen met mijn man.

8. Wat is je favoriete TV-show en waarom?

Ik kijk heel veel tv programmas namelijk Pretty Little Liars, Beauty and the Beast, Sherlock, Ravenswood, Cutthroat Kitchen, The Block..etc… Maar ik kies voor de Pretty Little Liars want ik houd van spanning en het kunnen blijven gissen wie A is.

9. Wat is je favoriete “aspect” (deel) van jezelf?

Ik denk dat ik creatief ben. Ik hou er van om in staat te zijn mezelf uit te drukken in vele kunstvormen.

10. Op welke prestaties ben je trots?

Dat ik in staat ben om deze post te schrijven in het nederlands :P

My week in photos 2

Time flies like a bullet train. It´s feel like I sleep then suddenly it is the start of another week. So looking back...

Monday. I made spelt lasagne with pumpkin. My husband is vegetarian and he rarely eats meat even fish so in replacement for meat, I used mushrooms. We also avoid using regular flour instead we use spelt or gluten free flour.

Tuesday. We love mexican food. I made my own corn tortilla which turned out a bit thicker (since I do not have tortilla press) but the taste is really good. We paired it with crab salad and a lot of veggies.

 

Wednesday. Rise and shine! It is my cleaning time.

Sometimes I really find it strange because it looks like I am wearing an eyeliner though I am not. I took this photo before I made my silly make-up tutorial.

For dinner, I made pancit canton. It is a typical Filipino dish. I just used veggies and some mushroom. Yum! Reminds me of home.

Thursday. I was busy at work and got no time to think what I wanted to make. So there it was. Fried rice with veggies and lamb sausages. Lamb is a healthier option to red meat.

Friday. VALENTINE´s DAY! It is our 3rd valentine´s day together (for me and my hubby).  He gave me a really nice heart mirror and we had a nice dinner. (I forgot to upload the pics yet).

My very first french braid after 6 months of not being able to do this. My shoulder operation was indeed a success. Now I can braid my self again and not having to fear that my shoulder dislocates again.

All about nails

Yes, I admit I am big nail polish and nail art fan. I love to show my quirky and creative side through my nails. This week I purchased some nail polishes from essence and maybelline color show. I also wanted to try the etos nail polish remover and see if it works good with nail polishes that has glitters. Usually, removing glitter polishes is such a hard thing to do.  I would usually wrap my nails in cotton with a nail polish remover and put aluminum foil on it and let it stay for 5 minutes. I find it very tedious.

Essence nail polishes cost like 1.89 euros per polish in kruidvat and the maybelline color show polishes cost 2.99 euros per polish. Here are some nail arts I made using the nail polishes above.

It love the combination of glitters and spots and hearts. I used Hema 808 nail polish as a base coat and I topped it with maybelline white splatter. 

I rarely put nail polish on my toe nails but I wanted a bit of color so I used essie after school boy blazer as a base coat and topped it with essence black dress and white tie.

 

I wanted to do some nail art in celebration of valentine´s day. I used sally hansen pink ice as base coat then I topped it with essence bird of paradise and million dollar baby. For the heart, I used OPI liquid sand in magazine cover mouse.

 

OPI is defintely my favorite nail polish but as for the glitters I usually used Essence and Maybelline. The glitters are actually nice and look stunning on the nails. The etos nail polish remover works good. I used it and I did not have problem removing the glitter polishes and works actually fast. So I suggest, give it a try. :)

I honestly was just trying to make a "how to make-up tutorial". Then out of my crazy mind I made a video of myself using my phone:) So enjoy...

I want Jeffrey Campbells!

I love shoes! My favorite brand of shoes would be Jeffrey Campbell. You ask why? I like how unique the shoes look. Campbells have that funk, chic and rock and roll feel to them. I got a pair which my husband gave as a gift but I wanted to own more. They are quite pricey for my budget I would say but I would want to collect more.

Here are some recent collections of JC´s that I love :)


Blue is not my favorite color but I love how these campbell really pops. Plus the same reminds me of a friend who also likes blue.





I like more the Zandia. It has that very modern twist to a classic shoe and the color is just tasteful. White and dainty:)



My mom´s favorite color purple. I am not a purple or lavender fan but these just looks adorable. It looks chic and reminds me of a cotton candy..haha




It looks a bit common but the heels grabs my attention. It is quite chunky and I think that if paired with a nice summer skirt these would look amazing.

Monday: I usually eat meat once or twice a week only. I made vegetarian pizza from bread and some Friesian sausages.



Tuesday: I made banana fritters which is vegan and gluten-free.



Wednesday: We went for a little road trip to Zeeland. I just love sunsets and so while on the car I took this photo. I find this view stunning.




Thursday: I enjoyed my cute socks. A friend gave this to me. I just think it is just so funny:)



Plus a little throwback time. I had a SLAP surgery for my right shoulder last August. This photo just reminds me how time flies and that I should exercise more to regain the strength of my right shoulder. Hopefully this will be my first and last surgery.




Friday: I made tom-yam soup. I love thai food though I am not Thai. So I made my vegetarian version. Mixed with love and tofu and mushroom and some vegetables.



Saturday: Party time. A friend will move to Norway so her family gave here a farewell party.








Can I be a Primark girl? Everything I am wearing is actually from Primark. Haha...





And I filmed my first youtube video which I am busy editing now.
